A pair of very stylish Cubist Art Deco club chairs. They have been in dry and secure storage since. Apart from the upholstery the chairs are in untouched and original condition. They would be fine to use as is but there is a slight wobble in the leg of one chair, it isn’t bad i. E they don’t wobble when you are sat on them or move about on them, they are sturdy and won’t fall apart but they do need a general overhaul, which was the intention but time and circumstances hasn’t allowed. They are extremely comfortable to sit on and are beautiful pieces of early 20th century design. I don’t know who made them and have never found anything exactly like them. I can tell you they were bought in Germany and was told they originated from there but nothing more. I would love to know though. I’m not sure what the wood is, it might be ash. It is most definitely a hardwood, dense, and they are very heavy chairs, and the wood has taken on a lovely golden hue with age. There are a few marks here and there but nothing major, that would restore if wanted. Overall the chairs are in good condition. They are in original and untouched condition so you may want to renew springs and ensure the joints are secure etc though they are sturdy enough. Size – 72 cm wide/depth and 76 cm height they are almost a cube in dimensions. Wood seat base to floor 34 cm then add the thickness of the cushion which is currently 10 cm thickness gives a seat height 44 cm (from top of seat cushion to base of legs). The cushions are 10 cm thickness. You are welcome to come and view and collect (Huddersfield/Wakefield area), arrange your own courier or we can deliver them please ask for details.
